The man who shot and killed CJOH sportscaster Brian Smith has been sentenced to two years in prison for assaulting a U.S. border guard at a crossing in Buffalo, N.Y.
A jury convicted 51-year-old Jeffrey Arenburg in November 2007 after he punched an American federal officer.
The judge said Arenburg was concerned because the assault took place less than one year after he left the care of mental health authorities in Canada.
Arenburg, who has paranoid schizophrenia, was found not criminally responsible for Smith's death.
