The man who shot and killed CJOH Sports Director Brian Smith is going to jail for assaulting an American border guard at a crossing in Buffalo, N.Y.
The two-day trial included claims by the 51-year-old that his thoughts are being controlled by the media.
Arenburg made some bizarre statements while questioning witnesses at his own defense trial on Tuesday, claiming his thoughts were being used by a movie studio to make films.
U.S. federal prosecutors responded to the claims by saying Arenburg was making a farce of the proceedings. They later asked the judge to intervene.
Arenburg made a similar claim following Smith's death in 1995. At that time, he claimed he was trying to silence voices in his head when he shot and killed Smith in the parking lot of CTV Ottawa's studios.
Arenburg, who has paranoid schizophrenia, was found not criminally responsible for Smith's death.
Sentencing for the assault is scheduled to take place in September.
