Ottawa’s newest luxury boutique hotel is set to open in the ByWard Market in 10 days. The Andaz hotel, located at York St. & Dalhousie, will be the first Andaz in Canada and the 13th in the world.

“It is really exciting to be in the capital of Canada as we approach the 150th anniversary of the country… but this city has a strong hotel market all the time so we’re looking forward to being part of it,” said Matt Graham, the General Manager for the Andaz Hotel in Ottawa.

The hotel has 16 floors with an outdoor rooftop lounge that overlooks the city. The main level will house a coffee station, bar and restaurant that will all be open to the general public.

“We’re focused on using local ingredients, a lot of them coming from the market, and we prepare them in the open kitchen,” Graham said.

One thing you will not see at the Andaz is a check-in counter. Graham said the goal is to create a hotel experience that is similar to visiting a friend.

“So we do it on these couches, offer you a glass of wine, and check you in with an iPad mini we can get you up to your rooms,” he said.

The price for a regular guest room will cost roughly $300 per evening. The hotel will also offer a presidential suite for roughly $1200 a night.

There will also be a level designated to space for meetings, or wedding receptions.

“I think what is happening at the Rideau Centre, along with what’s happening in 2017, along with our LRT coming in the years after, I think it’s a perfect time to be doing a project like this in the city,” said Graham.

The Andaz is set to open to the public on August 22nd.
