Co-owners of a Merrickville coffee shop say they are innocent of fraud, possession and forgery.

Dale and Tom Sinclair both face multiple charges in relation to an unnamed Ottawa company. Dale has 14 counts of fraud over $5,000 and forgery, as well as one count of possession, money laundering and fraud under $5,000.

Tom has one count each of possession proceeds of crime and money laundering.

"On the advice of our lawyer, we will not be making an official statement, but we do look forward to proving our innocence," Dale says.

Police say the scam, which had to do with signing company cheques, netted $850,000.

The couple will be back in court on Jan. 7.
