A 53-year-old woman had to be extricated from her car on Highway 417 Friday morning after it went off the road in Kanata and rolled over several times. She is in hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened around 7:40 a.m. when the vehicle went off the westbound side of the road near Terry Fox and Palladium drives and rolled over three times, coming to rest on its wheels. The woman was the only person in the vehicle.

Two off-duty nurses stopped at the side of the road and got into the wrecked vehicle to help the driver as paramedics and fire crews arrived. Extrication took around 20 minutes.

Police closed down part of the highway for several hours to do an investigation, which continues.
