Charges are pending against a Gatineau man accused of driving while impaired following a serious crash early Saturday morning.

Gatineau police say a 33-year-old man was driving a BMW westbound on Maloney Blvd. when he swerved into the eastbound lane of oncoming traffic.

Police say his car collided with a Mitsubishi Lancer driven by a 37-year-old woman, with two male passengers, 54 and 32.

One passenger was ejected from the vehicle. All three people in the Mitsubishi were taken to the Hull hospital trauma centre with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the BMW driver failed a breathalyzer test. His license has been suspended for 90, and his vehicle was seized for 30 days.

The BMW driver has been charged with impaired driving. He must appear in a Gatineau court within three months.

Following the crash, Maloney Blvd. was closed in both directions for a police investigation, but has since re-opened.
