18-year-old cyclist dead after crashing into post
Ottawa paramedics say an 18-year-old man is dead after suffering a head injury when he crashed his bike into a light post in Kanata Wednesday afternoon.
Paramedic spokesperson J.P. Trottier says it does not appear a car was involved.
The victim was found unconscious by a nurse just before 3:30 p.m.
When paramedics arrived they treated him for a head injury and rushed him to emergency.
Trottier says the cyclist went into cardiac arrest while on the way and was declared dead after the ambulance arrived at the hospital.
Castlefrank Road is closed between Hazeldean Road and McCurdy Drive while police investigate.
