OTTAWA -- The City of Ottawa is seeing a 13th straight day with a double-digit increase in COVID-19 cases in Ottawa.

Data from the Ontario Ministry of Health shows 15 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa on Thursday.

Nine of the 15 new cases involve Ottawa residents between the ages of 10 and 29. 

Since the first case of COVID-19 on March 11, there have been 2,496 laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa.

Thirteen new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Ottawa on Wednesday, while 25 cases were reported on Tuesday.

Across Ontario, there are 89 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. Ten new cases were reported in Toronto, while there are 12 new cases in Peel region. Fifteen new cases were reported in Windsor-Essex on Thursday.

COVID-19 in Ottawa

Ottawa Public Health reports 15 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa on Thursday, and no new deaths.

There are currently 10 people in hospital with COVID-19 related illnesses, including four in the Intensive Care Unit.

On Wednesday afternoon, Ottawa Public Health reported a 16-year-old was admitted to hospital with COVID-19.

Recovering from COVID-19

There are 248 active cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa, down from 269 active cases on Wednesday.

A total of 1,984 people have recovered after testing positive for COVID-19.

The resolved rate is 79.5 per cent of all cases.

Age breakdown of new COVID-19 cases

Here is a look at the age breakdown for the 15 new COVID-19 cases in Ottawa today.

  • 0-9 years old: Zero new case (68 cases total)
  • 10-19 years-old: Five new cases (128 cases total)
  • 20-29 years-old: Four new cases (388 cases total)
  • 30-39 years-old: Three new case (326 cases total)
  • 40-49 years-old: One new case (329 cases total)
  • 50-59 years-old:  Two new cases (341 cases total)
  • 60-69-years-old: Zero new cases (256 cases total)
  • 70-79 years-old: Zero new cases (188 cases total)
  • 80-89 years-old: One new case (275 cases total)
  • 90+ years: Zero new cases (197 cases total)
 

 

COVID-19 outbreaks

Ottawa Public Health reported two new COVID-19 outbreaks on Thursday.

A staff member tested positive at Elisabeth Bruyere Residence. This is the second COVID-19 outbreak at Elisabeth Bruyere Residence – 28 residents and 18 staff members tested positive for COVID-19 during the spring, along with four deaths.

A staff member tested positive for Grandir Ensemble – La Maissonnee.

There are now 11 active COVID-19 outbreaks in Ottawa at long-term care homes, retirement homes and child-care centres.
