Elementary teachers and occasional teachers in the Upper Canada District School Board walk out today as rotating strikes continue.
The board employs nearly 1100 full time elementary teachers. The board serves communities like Kemptville, Brockville, Cornwall and Smiths Falls.
The UCDSB elementary schools will remain open even though classes are cancelled. The board has arranged to have children supervised if parents were not able to arrange alternate care. Parents have been asked to register their children beforehand.
Education Minister Laurel Broten is warning the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario that any strike in the new year will be illegal.
