A windchill warning has ended for Ottawa, Eastern Ontario and Gatineau.

Environment Canada says temperatures will start to climb  this afternoon to about -18.

Windchill temperatures hit  near -40 overnight and into the early morning.

CTV's JJ Clarke says relief from this extended Arctic blast is on its way.

"We'll see another say of frigid cold and then there will be an easing of the cold over the weekend.

The high on Saturday will be -14, ' said Clarke.

Ottawa Public Health has extended its Frostbite warning until tomorrow.
