The long weekend comes with some Monday closures that affect how you plan your Victoria Day.

All schools, government offices, post offices and banks will be closed, with mail not being delivered and garbage not being collected.

Garbage, recycling and green bins normally collected Monday will be pushed back to Tuesday, with all collections pushed back a day for that week only.

Grocery stores, LCBO and Beer Store locations will be closed on Victoria Day, but open regular hours over the weekend.

The Rideau Centre is open from 10-6 on Monday, but other major shopping centres including Place D'Orleans, Bayshore and St. Laurent are closed. Shops in the Byward Market will be open.

Also to be noted is Monday is the last day before construction on Bank Street in the Glebe, and the final day of construction on Rideau Street which is restricting traffic to taxis and buses.

In terms of city services, City Hall and its seven client centres will be closed, as well as the provincial offences court at 100 Constellation Crescent.

Some pools, fitness centres and arenas will be open on modified schedules; the city said residents should check with individual facilities.

OC Transpo will run on a Sunday schedule, which you'll have to keep in mind if you're heading to the fireworks at 10:15 p.m. Monday at Dow's Lake.
