Ottawa's newest bike sharing service is now up and rolling in the capital.

VeloGo officially launched Tuesday with a fleet of 300 bicycles.

"It's bike share at it's best," says John Romero, chief operating officer of CycleHop, a Miami-based company which owns and operates VeloGo. "It's bike share with the latest technology meaning all the technology is on the bike."

The lime green bikes can be found at 28 stations in Central Ottawa and Gatineau. The smart bikes come with GPS tracking and a lock. You can rent them with a smartphone app. The bikes also record personal metrics like distance travelled and calories burned.

A bike rental will run you $2.50 per half-hour trip, 15 dollars a month for an hour a day, and if you want two hours a day, it's 20 dollars a month.

For three dollars, you can also lock and leave a bike at any public rack in the service area.  It doesn't have to be a velogo station.
