Three drivers employed by Uber have been convicted of driving illegal cabs in the city of Ottawa.

The drivers paid fines covering five tickets.

The financial penalty for violating the City of Ottawa's taxi-bylaw totaled $2,365.00.

About a dozen or more drivers are expected to deal with taxi bylaw infractions at a March 26th, 2015 court date.

Uber hails itself as a technology company which operates a ride-sharing service.

It began service in Ottawa in late September 2014.

Despite these convictions anxd the city of Ottawa crackdown, Uber recently announced expansion of  service to Gatineau.

Uber also made headlines today in New York City.

Uber cars in the big Apple now outnumber the world famous Yellow Cabs.
