Two people are now homeless after fire completely gutted their Orleans home.

Fire crews were called to the two-storey home located on Dussere St. at about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

A man in his 20's had been sleeping in his room when he noticed smoke. He had to jump out of his bedroom window onto the roof of his garage, then onto the ground. His sister who also lives in the home was at work at the time.

The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen.

The damage is estimated at $300,000.
