Two taxi drivers have been arrested are expected to face charges in connection with an incident during a protest on the Airport Parkway earlier this month.

Video of the incident surfaced last week. It shows four people coming toward a vehicle as it tried to leave the Airport Parkway. Two of them are holding red union flags, and they use the flag poles to strike the windshield and hood of the car several times, causing the windshield to crack.

The incident is believed to have happened on September 8, the same day another alleged attack on a vehicle happened on the Airport Parkway, about 100 metres away from the one connected to the two most recent taxi driver arrests.

That other incident was also caught on video, showing people smashing the back windshield of another cab.

Three people were charged with possession of a dangerous weapon and mischief in connection to that incident.

Airport taxi drivers are fighting with their dispatcher, Coventry Connections, for more than six weeks now. They are disputing a hike in fees to be able to exclusively pick up passengers from the Ottawa International Airport.
