Three men are facing murder charges in connection with a body found in an eastern Ontario schoolyard on Saturday.
Hawkesbury OPP have charged 18-year-old Martin Lamoureux of St. Isidore with second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence in connection with the death of 24-year-old Joey Faubert.
Two other Ottawa-area men, Nico Soubliere and Cody Henry, are charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
Two females ages 18 and 16 from North Stormont are charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, while another 17-year-old girl was arrested Monday and charged with being an accessory after the fact.
The 18-year-old can’t be named as it could help identify the 16-year-old girl.
Friends say Faubert had been involved with drugs
About a dozen family members joined Joey's father Alain Faubert at a courthouse in L'Orignal.
Alain told reporters his son was a good kid and he "didn't deserve this."
Joey Faubert’s body was found in a grassy area belonging to École élémentaire catholique Saint-Isidore in St. Isadore on Saturday, about 45 minutes southeast of downtown Ottawa.
Mike Croteau said he saw the crowds of police descend on the scene over the weekend before he found out the body was that of his friend.
"I saw a bunch of policemen with maybe ten to 12 cars, lots of commotion going on," he said. "(He was) basically a good guy all around, liked to go outdoors and do a lot of biking."
Croteau said Faubert had got involved with the wrong crowd and drugs and hadn't been doing well lately.
"He was sleeping here and there, around corners, in sheds and on roofs," he said. "It was sad to see but you can't really do anything unless they really want to help themselves."
Police said an autopsy Monday showed foul play was involved in Faubert’s death, but they’re not releasing the cause of death yet.
The three accused of murder will all remain in custody until their next court apearance July 18.
