Police in Quinte West are warning locals to be on the lookout for anyone in the area trying to sell large amounts of copper.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police a theft occurred at the Hydro One facility on Power Street between Thursday, April 21st and Monday, April 25th.

The thieves broke into the plant and stole more than 6,000 pounds of copper cable worth approximately $20,000 within the fenced area.

According to police the incident is related to another incident in Belleville where copper was stolen from another Hydro One power station
