There’s the cost of living.

Then there’s the cost of living it up… even just a little.

And that’s where the Cheap Date Index comes in.

Deutsche Bank has released its fourth annual survey mapping prices for the same goods and services around the world, from the cost of a hair-cut to a pair of jeans.

One of the categories is the Cheap Date Index. It compares the cumulative price of cab rides, McDonalds burgers, soft drinks, two movie tickets, and a couple of beers.

The total cost in each city is represented in U.S. dollars.

While that might not be your idea of a cheap date, it does prove that cheap dates around the world are not equal.

Of the 31 cities on the list, the cheapest place to go on this cheap date is Mumbai, India, where it will only cost you $24.70. The Indian cities of Bangalore and New Delhi rounded out the top three.

The most expensive place to go on the same date is San Francisco ($104.60) followed by Tokyo ($103.50) and London ($99.80)

The two Canadian cities on the list landed right in the middle. Deutsche Bank says the cheap date will cost $71.90 in Ottawa, and $76.00 in Toronto.

It turns out the “cheap” in cheap date is relative.
