You'll soon be able to sit back and relax at a new canal side restaurant.

Terrace on the canal is slated to serve its first customers tomorrow. It's a new canal side hang out located on Colonel By Drive between the Laurier Avenue bridge and the Corkstown Footbridge beside the University of Ottawa.

Owners say the spot will feature local food trucks, fruit juices, drinks and weekly programing like waterside yoga.

“One of the things that is happening right now in Ottawa is parklets” says marketing coordinator Sharif Virani. “You'll see them across the city; see the one in the market, so we thought why not create one with a similar look and feel here along the canal. That's what we want to do here. We want people to come hang out, read a book. Why not make it your everyday outdoor coffee stop.”

Terrace on the canal takes over from 8 locks flat which closed last year. The new venue operates in partnership with the National Capital Commission.
