It has become a national celebration - Canadians coming together for the Tragically Hip’s final tour.

The countdown is on for Saturday’s show in Kingston, which will likely be the band’s last, after lead singer Gord Downie announced he has terminal brain cancer.

The concert will be broadcast live with viewing parties scheduled in Ottawa at the following locations.

  • Parkdale Park in Hintonburg at 8:30p.m. - Guests are asked to bright their own chairs.
  • Sens House & Pub 101 in the ByWard Market for 8:30p.m.
  • Dovercourt sports field. - Guests are asked to bring their own chairs.  
  • D’Arcy McGee’s viewing party schedule for 8:30 p.m. One dollar for every pint sold is going to the Gord Downie    brain cancer research fund.
  • The John St. Pub in Arnprior – Doors open at 7:30p.m.

On Thursday more than 20,000 people showed up for the Hip’s second last show at the Canadian Tire Centre . It was an emotional time for fans who said Downie told the crowd to ‘take care of each other’.

“It was eye opening, it was one of those concerts you’ll never forget, it’s going to be one of those things… where was I when,” said one fan.

Another fan, Tara Fawcett, said the concert was her 22nd time seeing the Hip performing live.

“The last three songs, you’re just like crying and praying that you don’t want it to end,” she said.

Saturday’s show is expected to begin at 8:30p.m.
