The Ottawa Senators showed plenty of character tonight, not giving up after 2 disallowed goals, the Senators respond with a come from behind 3-2 victory in a shootout.

After being outworked and outshot against the Detroit Red wings last night the Ottawa Senators showed more spark in the first period. After both teams exchanged disallowed goals, the Blues opened the scoring with a deflection that gets by Robin Lehner giving St Louis at 1-0 lead after one period.

Nothing goes right for the Senators in the 2nd period.  Alexander Steen scores on the power play for a 2-0 lead. Then another disallowed goal for the Senators, as it’s ruled incidental contact on the goalie.  Brian Elliott would leave the game as back up Jake Allen took over in nets.

After 2 disallowed goals, Erik Condra finally gets credit as he redirects Eric Gryba’s shot from the point to trail 2-1. It’s Condra’s first point of the season. Then with 40 seconds left in regulation, Alex Chiasson pokes in the rebound to force overtime.

It would head into a shootout, and it would be Bobby Ryan who wins it in the 3rd round as the Senators beat St Louis 3-2.

The Senators visit the Panthers Friday.
