The University of Ottawa Gee-Gees lived up to the hype of being the number one seed defeating the No. 8 University of Saskatchewan Huskies 94-73 in the last quarter-final game tonight at the CIS men’s basketball championship at the Canadian Tire Centre. The Gee-Gees advance to face No. 4 Victoria in what will be a battle of the top defence versus top offence in CIS at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Earlier in the day the Carleton Ravens, seeded 2nd in the tournament dropped the No. 7 McMaster Marauders 82-64 in another quarterfinal game. Carleton, will now face the No. 3 Alberta Golden Bears in the early semifinal at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The Ravens rode a combined 41-point performance by the brothers Scrubb (Philip and Tommy) along with 13 points from Kevin Churchill and 12 from Tyson Hinz.

The championship game goes 2pm on Sunday at the Canadian Tire Centre
