OTTAWA -- Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray says he hasn't offered captain Jason Spezza a new contract and he's not prepared to do so at the moment.

The 30-year-old Spezza has a no-trade clause and one year left on his current deal.

He had 66 points over 75 games in his first season as team captain.

Murray held a season-ending availability today after his team finished in a tie for 10th place in the Eastern Conference standings.

He also says the Senators need another big forward who can play a "harder game" for the team.

Murray adds that careless plays and turnovers were a problem this past season and led to a high goals against total.
