Ottawa will plunge further into the Christmas spirit with three area Santa Claus parades this weekend.

There are two choices Saturday morning, in Kanata and downtown Ottawa.

Kanata’s will be the first, starting at 10 a.m. at Terry Fox Drive and Castlefrank Road.

It runs along Castlefrank Road to Abbeyhill Drive and finishes at the Hazeldean Mall.

Downtown Ottawa’s parade begins at 11 a.m. across from the National Archives building on Wellington Street, before heading down Bank Street to Laurier Avenue.

That parade ends at City Hall, with firefighters collecting new, unwrapped toys and cash along the way.

The third parade of the weekend is Sunday evening in Barrhaven, starting at Beatrice Drive and running down Strandherd Drive to the OC Transpo Park and Ride.

Volunteers will be gathering food donations and cash along that route as well.

There will be road closures involved with all these parades, as well as the many others happening this season.
