There's excitement here in Ottawa over news that Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, is expecting her first baby.

Anybody who's been there knows motherhood changes your life.
Whether you're a Duchess or Claire Niedbala.
"Enjoy the ride. It's a pretty crazy ride," Niedbala says. "It's a lot of fun and every day is something new and a challenge from the beginning of pregnancy until 13 months along."
It was, of course, Ottawa and Canada the Royal Couple chose for their first overseas visit.
People in this city couldn't get enough of "Will and Kate."
So, there's lots of interest here as the the couple begins family life.

And Vicky Morrison, manager of Ottawa's Fab Baby Gear, says the newest member of the Royal Family absolutely MUST have Sophie the Giraffe.
"So, this is a Sophie here," Morrison says holding the toy. "She's a teething toy. She's totally unisex so if it's a boy or a girl, doesn't really matter and she's got tiny little legs so little baby hands can clutch on to her pretty well."

So, with Sophie clutched in tiny hand, Lisa Baird tells the Duchess to enjoy every moment of what's ahead.
"Every little moment is scary and new and it's one of the hardest things you'll do but it's the most fun."

And what about Dad - the Duke - here's an insiders view from Bryan Bolton.
"Going to have to get some rest and I'm not sure if he's going to be able to find the time to do that," Bolton says. "Probably say get as much rest as you can."
