The tactical unit descended on a west end neighborhood Wednesday evening after residents reported hearing multiple shots fired.

Some residents tell CTV they heard as many as 6 shots fired early Wednesday evening near Lincoln Fields Shopping Centre.

One report says tactical officers burst into an automotive repair shop on Forest Avenue.  Late Wednesday evening police said no arrests had been made.

There was no indication anyone had been hit or injured by the gunfire.

Several roads were closed off in the area, including parts of Richmond, Carling and Forest.  By midnight all of the barricades had come down.

The Guns and Gangs unit of the Ottawa police has taken over the investigation.
