Hundreds of people spent Saturday morning trying to pull a jumbo aircraft down an Ottawa International Airport runway.

The "Plane Pull" charity celebrated its seventh anniversary and took off with flying colours.

Participants called it a giant game of “Tug and War.” The goal is for each team to pull an Air Canada aircraft 12 feet down the runway. Whichever team has the fastest time wins.

“Teams come out and they're stoked with lots of big guys and they think they have the advantage,” said Krista Kealey, Ottawa International Airport. “It’s about the momentum. It’s about that first time when the air horn goes off and you give it that first good heave.”

The “Westway Taxi” took home the win with 4.26 seconds.

The charity raised $70,000  for the Sens Foundation and Project Clear Skies.
