A 14-year-old boy suffered minor injuries following a stabbing near A.Y. Jackson Secondary School in Kanata.

The incident occurred off school grounds at a nearby Mac’s convenience store where the victim got into an argument with the suspect.

Following the incident the victim walked back to school with a stab wound in his lower back.

Police were called at 12:55 p.m. The victim was sent to CHEO for treatment. The Ottawa Carleton District School Board describes his injuries as minor.

The school was placed in secure mode as a precaution. Classes have since resumed.

According to Ottawa Police a young offender has been arrested in connection to the stabbing.

The investigation is ongoing.
