Police have charged a 22-year-old man with first-degree murder in the deaths of his parents.

Cameron Rogers was charged on Tuesday after a couple were found dead in Ottawa's west end around 10 p.m. Monday night.

Dave Rogers, 69, and his wife Merrill Rogers, 63, were found dead at a home on Apeldoorn Avenue and Meadowlands Drive, in Carleton Heights.

Montreal Police Const. Benoit Boiselle said a 22-year-old man called 911 in Montreal Monday night around 9:15 p.m. saying that he had killed his parents in Ottawa.

Montreal Police contacted Ottawa Police with the information. They then found the bodies at the home on Apeldoorn Avenue.

The 22-year-old man is scheduled to return to Ottawa today with investigators.

The Ottawa Police Major Crimes Unit is investigating.

These are the city's 18th and 19th homicides of 2016.
