With just seven weeks to go, the plans for Ottawa's first foray into hosting the NHL All-Star weekend have been unveiled.

Hockey's biggest stars and most famous hardware will descend on the capital beginning January 26. Fans will get a chance to see the Stanley Cup and the Hart Trophy up close—both will be skated along the Rideau Canal from Waverley Street and Daly Avenue.

Ottawa's convention centre is expected to be transformed into a "hockey themepark" for the big weekend.

"We've been saying all along it's like an international film festival," said Cyril Leeder, president of the Ottawa Senators. "All the stars are here—whether it's players, it's coaches, it's managers, and media personalities."

There will also be a fantasy draft where NHL players pick their own teams, a skills competition, along with the all-star game.

The Sens Foundation is also holding it's first ever light up the night skate on January 29.
