A mild winter and early spring means an explosion of Ottawa's wildlife.

"I've been doing this for 20 years and that's unheard of. It was an extremely early spring and the amount of babies are massive," said Marc Chubb of Humane Wildlife Control.

He says raccoons and skunks can cause thousands of dollars of damage to homes.

"The animals love the city and the best thing a homeowner can do is do the prevention before they can move in."
