CTV has confirmed Ottawa police are investigating an alleged sexual assault involving a first-year student at Carleton University.
The victim's family tells CTV the incident happened Saturday night and that the suspect is known to the young woman.
Carleton University has been in touch with the family.
In a statement, a Carleton University representative said police are investigating an alleged sexual assault that occurred this weekend off campus, and that Carleton is assisting police.
The University also said it is “offering counselling services and support.”
