Canada's new curling champions were given a standing ovation by a sold out crowd before the Ottawa-Montreal NHL game at Scotiabank Place Monday night.

It was high fives and smiles for Ottawa's Team Homan as fans celebrated their gold medal victory over Manitoba at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Kingston.

The team of Rachel Homan,  Emma Miskew,  Lisa Weagle and Alison Kreviazuk will now represent Canada at the World Curling Championships in Latvia next month.

The Homan rink is the first Ottawa team to capture the Canadian championship.

Their home base is the Ottawa Curling Club.
