Ottawa Councillor Stephen Blais was rushed to the Hospital late Monday morning after suffering a heart attack at a fitness club.
Sources say Blais was exercising at a Goodlife Fitness Orleans location when he collapsed. A staff member on site performed CPR before Blais was taken to Hospital. He was taken first to the Montfort Hospital, and later transferred to The Ottawa Heart Institute.
Blais' family says he is on the mend at the Heart Institute.
In a family statement, his wife, Marta and family wished to express their gratitude to emergency crews and staff at GoodLife Fitness, and to hospital staff as well.
Blais, 32 years old, is a first term Ottawa Councillor representing Cumberland Ward 19.
His family says he is looking forward to returning to work as soon as possible.
