A 26-year-old father of two is dead following a fiery crash in a rural area in southwest Ottawa, near Richmond.
Firefighters, police, and paramedics were called to McCordick Rd. near Brophy Dr. around 1:50 a.m. Saturday after a car burst into flames after crashing into two parked cars.
CTV news has learned the victim was 26-year-old Andrew Page. Paramedics told the victim's family he died on impact and did not suffer.
"It's really, really been tough on my mom. That's her baby, you know, the youngest of her children," said Chris Page, the victim's brother.
Family described Page as a good father and fun-loving man. Still in shock, the family held back tears as they shared stories about their loved one.
"He was terrified of the grass as a kid. My mom tried to put him down and he just screamed bloody murder and he just didn't enjoy it," said Chris Page.
Page leaves behind two sons, Aiden and Tyson.
"I want to remember Andrew the way we all do remember him, as that outgoing adventurous kid who loved every day," said Chris.
The fatal crash happened on a driveway at 4410 McCordick Rd. Residents of the home said they woke up to the sound of a crash shortly before 2 a.m.
They said it appears Page's vehicle drove across the front lawn, leaving visible tire tracks, then hit a tree and the two parked vehicles in the driveway.
The collision left one of the parked vehicles heavily damaged. Debris from the crash, including a shoe, car parts, and clothing remained at the scene Saturday morning.
The Ottawa Police Collision Investigation Unit is investigating exactly what happened. An autopsy is being performed.
