The Ottawa Humane Society has been stripped of its ability to investigate cases of animal cruelty by the OSPCA.

The Ontario SPCA won't say why the Ottawa Humane Society has been suspended as an affliate although the OHS mentions that it's about politics and not the animals.

The OHS has been vocal in the past of the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The OSPCA says its formal response is being prepared and so won't say what led to the OHS’s status being suspended or why now.

We asked the OSPCA why the Humane Society's affiliate status was revoked but they wouldn’t tell us, saying it's before the courts.

The OHS believes the move is retaliation for them speaking out.

The Ottawa Humane Society goes on to say that at no time was the performance of its staff in question.

This spring, the OSPCA cancelled the voting rights of all local humane societies in Ontario.

The OHS will be in court tomorrow to try and get an injunction and restore their ability to investigate reports of animal cruelty.

In the meantime, the OSPCA says you can call them 24/7 at 310-SPCA.
