With the time to avoid an NHL lockout winding down, the Ottawa Senators acted as though it’s business as usual this morning, holding a practice at Scotiabank Place.

If no deal is reached, the players will be locked out starting Saturday at midnight, interrupting at least the start of a new NHL season.

The players’ union and the owners remain far apart in the negotiations for a contract deal.

Many of the league’s young players will ride out the lockout in the American Hockey League while some big stars, like Jason Spezza, are set to play in Europe.
