Two men in their twenties suffered critical, life-threatening injuries after a single car rollover early Sunday morning.

Paramedics responded to a call at the intersection of Upper Dwyer Hill and McArton roads just after 7 am Sunday, October 11th. Police said the crashed likely happened a few hours before the passerby called 9-1-1.

When emergency responders arrived, one man was found unresponsive with a head injury. That patient is considered to be in life-threatening condition.

A second man was extricated from the car by Ottawa Fire Services. He was treated with face, head, and chest injuries and was transported to the hospital by Ornge Air in serious but stable condition.

Police believe the car was travelling eastbound on McArton Road at a speed of at least 60 kilometers per hour when it drove through a stop sign and onto a dirt road. The vehicle then hit a pile of dirt, became airborne and  flipped at least once into a pool of water approximately 2.5 feet deep.

"The roadway evidence, or lack there of, indicates that they did not slow, did not stop," said Cst. Kevin Bradford with the Ottawa Police Collision Investigation Unit. "By the virtue of the damage to the vehicle, and some of the evidence that we found at the car itself, leads us to believe it rolled at least once."

Ottawa Police is investigating the incident.

Upper Dwyer Hill Road has since re-opened.
