A busy section of the Byward Market has re-opened after being cordoned off by police because of a suspicious vehicle.
RCMP and Ottawa Police were called around 10:45 am on Saturday about a vehicle that had padlocks on the outside of the doors on York St. According to witnesses, the inside of the vehicle was also stripped and had a makeshift bed in it.
The vehicle is registered in Nova Scotia and the two men driving it are apparently going across the country. Witnesses say they refused to let police search the vehicle initially.
The RCMP explosives unit cleared the vehicle before the men agreed to let police see what's inside. The trunk was opened and there was a conversation between the men and police before one of the men cheered.
They were released and won't face charges. All streets in the Market have been re-opened.
