Ottawa Police are investigating after a 26-year-old female pedestrian was struck and killed Friday evening. It happened just after 9 p.m. at the intersection of West Hunt Club Road and Sunderland St.

Paramedics say the female victim was treated on scene and had no vital signs when she was taken to the hospital.

The Collision Unit initially put out a plea asking for the public's help locating the driver of a white vehicle, but later said a driver returned to the scene. Police did not provide the driver's identification, they also did not incidcate if charges would be laid.

Both east and west-bound lanes of West Hunt Club Rd. were closed for several hours as police investigated. Roads have since reopened.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the collision investigations section at 613-236-1222, extension 2481.
