Saturday hundreds of Kids hit the courts at Carleton University to raise money for charity.

More than 100 teams of three to five players signed up for a new fundraising basketball tournament called 3 on 3 in the 613 and Urban Jam. Each team was scheduled to play at least three games at 15 minutes each during the competition.

The event supports Hera Mission Canada and Ausome Ottawa.

“Hera is really about giving back to Kenya, and we support women and children - So over 500 orphans and several hundred widows, grandmothers, and great grandmas,” said organizers Peggy Taillon.

Ausome Ottawa is an organization that provides sports to children with autism in Ottawa free of charge.

On top of the scheduled 3 on 3 games, the event included a dunk performance, dance show, music, live graffiti, and arts & crafts.

Organizers did not set a firm fundraising goal, but hoped to reach around $20,000 for the events first year.
