An Ottawa mother wants answers after her 2 children were dropped off two and a half hours late yesterday. Sheila Howard says her children, in grade one and two, were meant to be dropped off at 4:11pm. Their school bus didn't arrive until 6:40pm

By then her son had soiled himself. The children had missed dinner. Howard says she was frantic.

The Ottawa student transportation authority says the incident was a case of human error. "As often happens on long routes, drivers are humans, he made a mistake. He missed the stop.  He followed proper protocol and did deliver them in the end, " says Vicky Kyriaco, General manager for the OSTA. Protocol is to continue on the route and drop-off the remaining children and then return to drop-off children who have missed their stop.

Howard questions why she wasn't able to reach anyone from the school, the Ottawa Student transportation authority nor the Ottawa Public school board  for more than an hour.

The Tranpsortation authority says it did call Howard to say the children would be late. Howard says that call came a 5:41pm, an hour and a half after the scheduled drop-off time.
