There are 15 new lab confirmed cases of the flu in Ottawa since yesterday. And there are now 30 influenza outbreaks in long term care centres in the capital.

So far this season the city of Ottawa has 296 lab confirmed cases of the flu, 5 people have died, and 70 have been hospitalized.

For the first time since the H1N1 pandemic, hospitals in Ottawa have activated a clinical command centre to help deal with the spread of flu cases in our region. Hospitals cancelled some elective surgeries last week as emergency departments managed up to a 30 per cent increase in visits
