The Ottawa Senators wrapped up a 5 game road trip in Winnipeg tonight taking 9 of a possible 10 points, thanks to a 3-1 victory over the Jets.

The Senators open the scoring 5 minutes into the game as Kyle Turris rings it off the post and in for a 1-0 lead. Senators rookie goalie Andrew Hammond, with another exceptional start in nets as he turned away 15 shots in the first period keeping the Jets off the board.

The Senators score back to back goals in the 2nd period. Mika Zibanejad sets up Bobby Ryan with the onetimer for a 2-0 lead. A few minutes later it’s Erik Condra giving Ottawa a 3-0 lead after 2 periods.

The Jets ruin Hammond’s shutout attempt 5 minutes into the third period as Michael Frolik scores. Ottawa wins 3-1. The victory moves the Senators to within 4 points of the final playoff spot in the East.

Hammond made 35 saves for the victory. Hammond has yet to lose a game in regulation since making his NHL debut February 18th against Montreal.

The Senators return home to host Buffalo Friday night, in the first of a 3 game home stand.
