Professional baseball returned to the Capital Friday night with resounding success as the Ottawa Champions routed the Sussex County Miners 8-1. The only element missing was warmth as the 3,876 fans in attendance had to bundle up in the frigid temperatures.

The Champions proved they could be a contender in the Can-Am league after their easy victory.

The Champions took an early lead and never looked back. Fans were thrilled to see baseball return to the capital. Many of the fans promising to be back again saying they were impressed by the experience.

The Ottawa Champions will try to make it 2 in a row Saturday night at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton Park.
