Ottawa police are looking for a man they suspect of a “quick change” scam on grocery store clerks.

Police allege 47-year-old Christian Tygesen hit 8 different grocery stores between January 6 - 15, 2015.  Police say he bought a small item and then asks the cashier to change larger bills.

He’s accused of confusing and interrupting the employee, and pocketing money while the cashier is distracted. Police say Tygesen has stolen a large amount of money using the scheme.

Eight different grocery stores were hit, on Kirkwood, Bank, Walkley, Heron, Merivale and Cyrville Road.

He’s facing 16 charges including fraud under $5000.

Anyone with information on Tygesen’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Fraud Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5492, or call Crimestoppers at 613-233-8477.
