Ottawa Police have completed their investigation into an alleged assault against a runner along a west-end trail, finding details about the incident "unsubstantiated."

In a release sent out Friday, May 22nd, 2015, Ottawa Police said they determined the details associated with a reported assault on May 12th in Sheila McKee park could not be "substantiated." As a result, police have closed the investigating and concluded it as "unfounded."

The investigation was launched earlier this month after a female jogger said she was violently attacked while running along a trail in Sheila McKee Park, in the Dunrobin area, in the city's west-end.

The victim said she was running in the woods, shortly after 8:30 p.m., when she was suddenly struck from behind, in the head, and beaten until she fell unconscious.

"He started yelling about me being entitled and we'll see how pretty you are going to look now, and at the same time he was punching me in the face. About the second or third punch I saw white,” the victim told CTV Ottawa in a report aired shortly after the incident.

The jogger said the male attacker used her phone to take a photo of her bruised face and texted it to four of her friends. One of those friends called police and started looking for her.

The woman suffered bruises, a concussion, and some burns to her face and neck, believed to have been caused by a cigarette.

The victim said she came forward in an effort to warn others.

“I don't want this happening to anybody else, or something worse happening."
