Ottawa Fire Services were called to a in a residential building at 218 Strathcona Avenue Saturday morning.
The call came in shortly before 11 a.m. after resports of visible smoke.
Upon arrival fire crews discovered a fire in the basement of the building. Two people were able to escape and are now displaced.
The fire was under control at 11:30 a.m.
No injuries were reported- damages are estimated at $50,000.
Strathcona was closed between Bank and O'Connor for the investigation.
