The city has posted four signs around the new water plaza at Lansdowne Park, asking guests to 'stay off' a portion of the feature.

The signs surround a piece of artwork called ‘Uplift’, created by Jill Anholt.

The city says the signs were put here last Friday to let the public know where the play area and artwork area are.

The two signs at the front of the art piece show an arrow pointing to the second portion of the feature with small fountains deemed acceptable to play.

Busy parents with kids playing all over the artwork, which has water running down it, say they didn’t notice the signs there at all.

“With a two year old, I am not paying attention to those signs unless they have big angry pictures that let me know that there is a problem,” said one woman at the park.

After parents were directed to the signs some did encourage their children to play away from the artwork, while others did not understand why it would be there if children could not enjoy it.
