Ottawa Police have laid charges in relation to a series of three robberies that occurred Friday evening.

On Friday April 29, 2016, at approximately 9:40 pm, a lone male suspect entered a gas station situated along the 100 block of Montreal Road. The suspect, brandishing a knife, made a verbal demand for cash.  The suspect fled with an undisclosed quantity of cash.

A short time later, at approximately 10:00 pm, the same suspect attended a fast food restaurant situated along the 0-100 block of Selkirk Avenue. The suspect, brandishing a knife, made a verbal demand for cash. The suspect fled empty-handed when a second person entered the store and told the suspect police were being called.

A short time later, at 10:30 pm, the same suspect attended a gas station situated along the 0-100 block of Montreal Road. The suspect, brandishing a knife, made a verbal demand for cash. The suspect again fled empty-handed when the employee proceeded to call Police.

There were no injuries in any of the incidents. The suspect used a scarf to partially conceal his face in all three robberies.

Following the third robbery, the suspect was located in the area by Patrol officers and arrested without incident.

Donnelly Williams, 30, of Ottawa, is charged with the following offences:

  • Robbery
  • Two counts of attempted robbery
  • Three counts of wearing a disguise
  • Three counts possession of weapon for the commission of an offence
  • Six counts of breach of probation

Mr. Williams appeared in court on May 1, 2016 and was held in custody.  He appears again in court on May 2, 2016
